Thomas Elshuis
New Photoworks
Opening on Saturday 18 February 16-18 pm
Wednesday - Saturday 12-17 pm
1st Sunday of the month 14-18 pm

A private archive of some 20.000 slides, inherited from a family friend who had traveled the world, has been the starting point of Elshuis's photo-works.
Since 1999 Thomas Elshuis (1961) has explored this wealth of images, composing, as it were, his own reality by use of digital techniques.
His aim is to create a world in which time and place are uncertain elements, leading the viewer to illusory spaces.
To the original representations Elshuis adds a dimension in depth or height, while the emphasis on the architectural may be attributed to his studies at Delft University.
In his large new works he has composed urban landscapes, which he provides with a dreamy atmosphere.
A series of small compositions (40 x 60 cm) brings back the human figure in his oeuvre.
