In his recent painting - whether oil or gouache - Vygantas Paukšte has been playing around with his favourite themes: man and nature, body and soul, figure and shadow.
Human beings in Paukšte's works can be seen as genderless - often they are rather abstract shapes which form a coherent part of the natural landscape. These abstract human shapes, however, are not devoid of humanness - they represent a specific mental activity or emotional state: restlessness or relaxation, inspiration or indifference.
Paukšte keeps a fine balance between the dynamism of the human world and the meditativeness of the natural world.
A cohesive tension is created through his specific painting technique - a combination of lavishness of colour and fragility of blank paper.
