z.t. | 2004 | potlood op papier | 19 x 28 cmMarcel van Eeden (1965) shows 30 new drawings, which constitute a series. The idea behind them is a fictitious exhibition by four artists, which could have taken place in the Kunstverein Düsseldorf and in the Galerie Stenzel in Munich. However, the names that go with these drawings (or collages of historical facts) are the true names of art historians and art theoreticians of that time and age.

The series of drawings may be seen as one large collage, with diverse images and facts which are all "true", together composing an invented history.

What used to occur with Marcel van Eeeden's earlier works, by hanging a number of drawings juxtaposed, now happens within each drawing on its own.

z.t. (don't) | 2005 | acryl en garen op doek | 37,5 x 30,5 x 5,2 cm In all of the small embroideries on canvas that are at the core of her work Hinke Schreuders (1969) presents her subject matter- virtue and submission versus lust and seduction- in a lighthearted fashion.

Her motives stem from the conditioned role models, the sexual identity and the stereotypes that adhere to women: the fairy tale Princess, Little Red Riding Hood, close-ups of the faces of porn actresses, a lady ironing, mannequins, nude models in a pose.

The technique she uses is conducive to the experience of her work. She does embroidery, but not in the classical sense. It is at times quite precise, but sometimes also quite coarse and rough, stitched onto a sloppy patchwork of fabrics.

Thus her theme is inherent to the execution of her work: virtue versus perversity.
